Meet your midwife…

Emma Leeson, CPM/LM

Emma Leeson is a Licensed Midwife and Certified Professional Midwife serving Madison and the surrounding communities.  She began as a birth worker in 2008 and launched her midwifery practice in spring of 2024.  She is dedicated to providing compassionate and personalized care throughout pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period, offering a comprehensive range of services.

Emma and her husband, Michael have lived in Madison for over twenty years.  They had three babies in the local hospital, then two more with midwives at home.  After “discovering” homebirth, Emma fell in love with the holistic and nurturing midwifery model, beginning her journey toward becoming a midwife herself.  She spent two years apprenticing with several wonderful local midwives, graduating from the Direct Entry Midwifery program at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in 2024.

Prior to becoming a midwife, Emma worked in the nonprofit world for 18+ years, focusing specifically on anti-human trafficking work.  She continues to volunteer her time in this area, coming alongside women as they recover from sexual exploitation.  She is passionate about supporting women who have experienced trauma, providing the education and care that empowers them to have a positive and transformative birth.

When I’m not catching babies…

I LOVE my family, and spending time with them in wild and beautiful places fills my cup like nothing else. Backpacking, camping and hiking are some of my favorite things. You can also find me baking, gardening, running, playing piano or guitar, and reading Jane Austin. Additionally, I volunteer with a local nonprofit that supports women who are recovering from sexual exploitation.

History of Holistic Homebirth

Holistic Homebirth was founded in 2015 by nurse midwife, Christina Oser.  For nine years, she served Madison area families in the homebirth setting, offering full-scope midwifery care that empowered clients to make informed decisions that were right for them.  She built this practice with a God-instilled passion to be part of the birth process for other women.

In 2024, Christina and her husband followed their lifelong dream to move to the Arabian Peninsula.  She left Holistic Homebirth in the capable hands of her former student, Emma Leeson.

Christina’s online consultation service can be found at thedesertmidwife.com, where she offers expertise in a wide variety of topics including midwifery, nutrition, NFP, parenting, and homeschooling.
